It started off as a pipe dream in ā16 and in ā23 I won as best Emerging designer at Soweto Fashion Week:
Damn, where do I even start?! To give you a bit of a background check, I dropped out of university in Durban in 2016. Dropped out with no plan or no idea as to what I wanted to do next and guess what? I got my first job as a cashier at a local Spar, lol that was embarrassing to say the least. Nonetheless, during that period I would buy fabric and use it to pimp old shoes to make them new again, with more of a funky,Ā fresh & colorful look. Itās safe to say that is when the FASHION BUG bit me. Bought my first sewing machine at a second hand store, watched some sewing shows on YouTube and learnt the basics of sewing which was A LOT of trial and error.š The first clothing item I made that was a success was a basic top and a skirt after that REALIZATION hit me, I was like āThis is actually what I want to PURSUEā. Fast forward now I am proud to say I have a BA in fashion design, hosted my first show on the ramp at Soweto Fashion Week 2023 and designed a dress for a client for the Naledi Awards 2023.
Note to self: Your dreams are valid and continue to celebrate your victories, no matter how big or small.āØšš¦
